To Hakone: Odakyu Romancecar from Shinjuku to Hakone-Yumoto: about 1 hour 30 minutes, with no change. One or two an hour, from around 07:00 to 18:00.

To Kamakura and Enoshima: The Enoshima-Kamakura Free Pass covers the Odakyu line to Fujisawa and Katase-Enoshima plus the whole Enoden tram line, from Shinjuku for about ¥1,640 (children a flat ¥430). The Enoden is the small coastal tram you actually want to ride.

Hakone Free Pass: A separate pass covers the Hakone loop — train, funicular, ropeway, boat and buses — which is the sane way to do that circuit.

About rail passes: Odakyu and the Enoden are private railways. A Japan Rail Pass does not cover them, and it does not cover the Romancecar. For Hakone and Kamakura, buy the Odakyu passes instead — they are cheaper than the individual fares.

A Japan Rail Pass does not cover Nozomi or Mizuho. What a rail pass covers

In this prefecture you will probably use Odakyu (for Hakone), Keikyu — a private railway, not JR. A Japan Rail Pass does not cover it.

An IC card works on most of them. Signs and station names are in English.

Send it: Any convenience store will deliver it to your next hotel, usually next day. Cheaper than carrying it up stairs
