Let's! is a free guide to all 47 prefectures of Japan, written for people visiting from outside Japan. There is no account, no sign-up and no fee.

What we try to be

Useful: Where to go, what to eat, how to get there, and who to call
Free: No account, no fee. The site carries advertising
Careful: Especially about anything to do with health, safety or children

What we are not

Not a booking service: We do not sell tickets, rooms or tours ourselves. Some links to booking sites earn us a commission — you pay no more, and it does not decide what we write (see 1.6–1.8)
Not official: We are not a government body and do not speak for any place we describe
Not medical or legal advice: Nothing here replaces a doctor, a pharmacist or a lawyer
Not a live service: Hours, prices and telephone numbers change. Check with the place itself before you travel to it

1. Using this siteTerms of use

1.1: You may read, print and share pages of this site for your own travel. You may not copy the site wholesale or republish it as your own.
1.2: Information here is a guide, not a guarantee. Opening hours, closing days, prices, fares, telephone numbers and access all change, sometimes at short notice.
1.4: Maps drawn for this site are for orientation only. They are not survey maps and must not be used for navigation, at sea, in mountains or anywhere else.
1.5: Links to other sites are given for convenience. We do not control those sites and are not responsible for their content.
1.6: This site sells advertising space, and that is how it is paid for. Advertisements are marked “Advertisement” and are visually separated from what we have written. An advertisement is not a recommendation by us.
1.7: What cannot be bought: a mention in our own text. No place appears in our descriptions, lists or rankings because it paid to be there, and paying does not change where it appears or in what order. If we ever get that wrong, tell us and we will correct it publicly.
1.8: Some links to booking sites, insurers or telephone providers earn us a commission if you buy through them. You pay no more than you would otherwise, and we do not choose what to write about on that basis. Where a link works this way, the page says so.
1.9: We may change or remove pages at any time, including this one.

2. Safety, health and the outdoorsRead this if you use the safety pages

2.1: 119 (ambulance and fire) and 110 (police) work everywhere in Japan, and an ambulance is free. #8000 (a child unwell at night) is available in all 47 prefectures and connects you to the one you are in, but its hours are set by each prefecture and differ. If it is closed and you are worried, call 119. Checked 2026-08-16.
2.2: Everything else about health on this site is general information. It is not medical advice and does not replace a doctor or a pharmacist. If you are unwell, ask a professional.
2.3: Do not rely on this site for medication. A pharmacy in Japan cannot dispense a foreign prescription, and some medicines that are ordinary elsewhere are restricted here.
2.4: Outdoor places — mountains, volcanoes, coasts, caves, rivers — change with the weather and are closed and opened by the people who manage them. Follow the instructions of local staff and official notices, not this site.
2.5: In an emergency of any kind, follow the instructions of the authorities and of the staff where you are. Nothing on this site overrides them.

3. If we ever accept your photographsPosting rules

We may in future invite visitors to send photographs of places in Japan for use on this site. These rules are written before the feature exists, on purpose, so that the feature has to fit the rules rather than the other way round.

3.1 — What we would collect, and what we would not

Collected: The photograph, the prefecture, and one short line about the place. Nothing else.
Not collected: No name, no email address, no account, no login. What we do not collect cannot leak.
Location data: Exif data, including GPS coordinates, is deleted the moment a file reaches us, before anything else happens to it. A photograph reaches us carrying no location at all.
Licence: By sending a photograph you allow us to show it on this site and to resize or crop it. You keep the copyright, and you can ask us to remove it at any time.

3.2 — Photographs of people

Strangers: Do not send photographs in which a person who did not agree to it can be recognised. Crowds at a distance are fine; a face is not.
Your own family: Only with the agreement of the adults in it.
Staff and performers: Only where photography was clearly allowed.
If in doubt: Do not send it. We would rather have fewer photographs.

3.3 — Children. This section does not bend.

We will not publish a photograph in which a child can be recognised. Not somebody else’s child, and not with a parent’s permission either — because a photograph on a public website is available to everyone, for ever, and a permission given today cannot cover that.

Never published: A recognisable child’s face. A school uniform with a school identifiable. A child with an address, a station name, a hotel, a route to school, or the view from a window.
Never published: Anything that shows when a child is regularly alone, or where they go each day.
Never built: No rankings of people who post. No visible like counts. No follower counts. No profile pages. No messaging between people who post. No paid prominence.
This site is a place to show a country, not a place to gather an audience around a person, and least of all around a child.
Never asked: We will not ask a young person for their age, their school, their town or a photograph of themselves. There is no reason we would need any of it.
The test we apply: Before anything is published we ask four questions: Could this reveal where someone is? Could it reveal when they are alone? Does it gather attention onto one person? Would we be content for this to be our own family? If any answer is uncertain, it is not published.

If you believe a photograph on this site shows a child who should not be shown, tell us and we will remove it first and ask questions afterwards. We will not wait to be persuaded.

3.4 — What we will not advertise

Advertising is sold on this site. Some of it we will not sell, at any price.

Never: Dating and adult services. Gambling. Anything sexual. Exaggerated cosmetic-surgery or medical claims. Loans and debt services. Anything aimed at children.
Never on these pages: No advertising appears on the terms, privacy or contact pages, or on the pages written for people travelling with children.
No profiling of children: Behavioural advertising is switched off on the pages written about travelling with children, and we do not ask any reader their age.
If one slips through: Automated advertising sometimes serves what it should not. Tell us and we will block that category the same day.

3.5 — What else we would refuse

Private places: Inside homes, gardens, private land, or over fences. No photographs taken from a place you were not allowed to be.
Where it was banned: Anywhere a 撮影禁止 (no photography) sign applied, including temple halls and many shops.
Danger to others: Photographs that would send people onto railway lines, into traffic, onto closed trails, or into residential streets at dawn.
Abuse: Anything mocking, shaming or ranking a person or a place. Anything about a named individual.
Made-up images: No artificial or altered images presented as photographs of a real place. Someone will travel there because of it.
Bathing areas: No photographs taken inside any bath, changing room or onsen. There are no exceptions to this and there never will be.

4. Limits of responsibilityDisclaimer

4.1: We try to be accurate and we correct mistakes when we learn of them. We cannot accept responsibility for loss, cost or disappointment arising from information here that has changed, or that was wrong.
4.2: Decisions about your own safety, health and travel remain yours, taken with the advice of the people on the spot.
4.3: We are not responsible for the acts of any business, transport operator or place mentioned here. We do have a commercial relationship with our advertisers and with the booking services we link to — that is stated in 1.6 to 1.8, and it does not change what we write.
4.4: Where the law of Japan gives you rights that these terms would reduce, the law wins.
