The train along the west shore runs beside the water. You can take the lake by boat, by bicycle or from a terrace above it.

Last train When the trains stop

The port changes the fare: A return from Nagahama is ¥3,800 for middle school and above and ¥1,900 for primary school. From Imazu it is ¥3,400 and ¥1,700.
Crossing beats a return: Imazu to the island to Nagahama, or the other way round, is ¥3,600 one way — so you land at a different port for ¥200 less than the Nagahama return.
Landing is extra: The boat fare does not cover the island itself — ¥600 from middle school age, ¥300 for children. Most people spend 60 to 80 minutes there.
Weekends only in winter: From 7 to 25 December and from 4 January to the end of February, boats run at weekends and on holidays only.
