The first is Eiheiji, a working Zen monastery in cedar forest where around two hundred monks train. Buildings are joined by covered wooden stairways, and you can stay overnight and sit with them at the morning service — which is a different night from a hotel or even a temple lodging.
Getting in: No airport — Fukui Station (shinkansen) · about 50 min from Kanazawa
